Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

1 cup white cheddar cheese, grated

1/4 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 onion, finely diced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil

4 whole wheat burger buns

Optional toppings: avocado slices, sliced tomato, mayonnaise, or arugula

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, grated white cheddar, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, diced onion, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium heat. Add the olive oil to the skillet if using.

Cook the chicken patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) and are golden brown on the outside.

While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns for a couple of minutes on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

Assemble the burgers by placing a chicken patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Add your favorite toppings such as avocado slices, sliced tomato, mayonnaise, or fresh arugula.

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
