Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, sliced into rounds

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Pinch of salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional: a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for serving

Optional: chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) for garnish

Instructions

Begin by heating a large skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and allow it to melt, swirling the pan to ensure it coats the surface evenly.

In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Mix well to create a cinnamon-sugar blend.

Once the butter is melted and bubbly, carefully add the banana slices to the skillet. Cook for about 1-2 minutes on one side until they start to turn golden brown.

Flip the banana slices and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over them. Drizzle the vanilla extract in the pan.

Allow the bananas to cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, gently tossing them in the melted butter and sugar sauce until they are evenly coated and caramelized.

Remove from heat and serve immediately, either on their own, or over a scoop of vanilla ice cream or with a dollop of whipped cream. Top with chopped nuts if desired.
