Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup apple cider

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 large egg

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cinnamon sugar (1/2 cup sugar + 2 tablespoons cinnamon, for coating)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with non-stick cooking spray or butter it lightly.

Prepare the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt until well combined.

Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the apple cider, large egg, applesauce, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture. Gently fold the ingredients together using a rubber spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are fine.

Fill the Donut Pan: Using a piping bag or a spoon, divide the batter evenly among the cavities of the greased donut pan, filling them about 3/4 full.

Bake the Donuts: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the donut comes out clean, and the edges are lightly golden.

Cool and Coat: Once baked, let the donuts cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. While they are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated.

Serve and Enjoy: Allow the donuts to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them fresh, with a warm cup of coffee or a glass of apple cider!
